Matanza é uma banda de rock and roll do Rio de Janeiro. Sua música é uma mistura de hardcore punk, country e heavy metal, formando assim, o gênero que a mídia intitulou de "countrycore".
A banda mistura diversos elementos do country, folk e bluegrass com rock 'n' roll e hardcore. As letras falam sobre bebida, mulher e violência. Possuem um clima de velho oeste americano. A imprensa batizou o estilo criado pela banda de country core, termo mais tarde adotado pelos próprios integrantes da banda.
Os membros da banda são admiradores de Johnny Cash e, em 2005, gravaram um álbum de versões para músicas da fase inicial de sua carreira (1995 a 1998), batizado como "To Hell with Johnny Cash". No penúltimo álbum, "A Arte do Insulto", o Matanza explora diversos elementos da música tradicional irlandesa, adicionando generosa influência de Slayer e Motörhead. O videoclipe da música "Clube dos Canalhas" foi dirigido pelo premiado diretor Rudi Lagemann.
No final de 2008, o guitarrista Donida deixa os palcos para continuar apenas como compositor da banda e quem assume o posto é Maurício Nogueira, ex- Torture Squad.
